 Kona Hawai Fishing   May 3, 2008 UPDATE!

The fishing continues to improve as warmer water has brought in some bait schools.....and along with that, the Blue Marlin.  Good catches of Blue Marlin, Spearfish and Ono being reported by most of the Kona charter fleet. 

Today, May 3rd was an unforgettable day for Denise Bailey from San Diego.  She and her family chartered HighNoon for a full day of fishing. Denise said she had been on many marlin fishing trips without success and felt she was bad luck!  HAH!  At 9:903 am, a huge Blue Marlin appeared just behind the long corner bait.  While we were all watching, this giant Blue inhaled this lure and started screaming out line.  We cleared lines and Denise jumped into the chair.  She did an awesome job of fighting this big fish.  She felt exhausted many times and wanted to quit more than once, but I said she would always regret it.  So...she stayed with it and fought this magnificent fish for two hours.  A memory to last a lifetime!   See photo below!!

This time of year,  I usually start with a quick Wahoo run on the rocky point in front of the harbor and can usually get one or two of these great tasting fish.  And unlike some Kona charter boats, we are happy to filet up one of these great tasting fish for you and the BBQ.  Then we can troll lures or try live bait for Blue Marlin and other big game fish.

There are many excellent Kona sport fishing charter boats and Hawaii fishing guides. Why choose HighNoon as your Kona charter boat?  First, I am one of the few owner/operators in the Kona  sportfishing charter fleet. Since I own my own boat, I am able to tailor each fishing trip for each angler.  I also enjoy talking with each angler and then customizing a fishing trip just for them.  While many of my clients want to fish for Blue Marlin, others enjoy light tackle fishing for Wahoo and Mahi Mahi.   Many clients are valued repeat customers.

I also do things a bit differently than most Kona deep sea fishing charters.  Most Kona fishing charters book either through charter fishing boat services or hotel activity desks. These vacation services take a large commission for their services. I only book direct with the customer either through personal references or through the Internet. This allows me to keep my rates low to you since I do not pay for referral commissions.
